In this episode, I had a fascinating conversation with Rich Zimmerman, the Executive Director of Orangutan Outreach, whose mission is to save critically endangered orangutans and protect their rainforest home.
Rich's unconditional love for orangutans stretches back to his childhood growing up in southern California, and after a trip to Indonesia in 2006 he felt deep in his heart that he had to do something to protect these animals. Especially after hearing that six football sized fields of rainforest a minute were being destroyed just for oil palm consumption.
Using his experience from working at UNICEF in NYC and several orangutan conservation organisations, he has helped save the lives of thousands of orangutans through is many outreach programs across Indonesia.
This is one inspiring heartfelt story, you’ll either want to adopt one of their orangutans or go do your own bit of good in the animal world.
